2015 Hockey Season Gets Underway

On the occasion of the start of the 2015 Season

The Original Six is a term for the group of six teams that made up the National Hockey League (NHL) for the 25 seasons between the 1942–43 season and the 1967 NHL Expansion. These six teams are the Boston Bruins, Chicago Black Hawks, Detroit Red Wings, Montreal Canadiens, New York Rangers, and the Toronto Maple Leafs. All of the Original Six are still active franchises in the league.

 Air Canada Centre

 

The Air Canada Centre (ACC) (French: Centre Air Canada) is a multi-purpose indoor sporting arena located on Bay Street in Downtown Toronto,Ontario, Canada. It is the home of the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League (NHL), the Toronto Raptors of the National Basketball Association (NBA), and the Toronto Rock of the National Lacrosse League (NLL). It was also home to the Toronto Phantoms of the Arena Football League (AFL) during their brief existence. The arena is popularly known as the ACC or the Hangar (the latter nickname came from its sponsorship byAir Canada).

Montreal Forum

 

The Montreal Forum was labeled "the most storied building in hockey history" by Sporting News,[6] as it was the home of the National Hockey League's "Original Six" team Montreal Canadiens from 1926 to 1996.

Maple Leaf Gardens

 

Considered one of the "cathedrals" of ice hockey and one of "The Original Six", it was home to the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League from 1931 to 1999. The Leafs won the Stanley Cup 11 times from 1932 to 1967 while playing at the Gardens. The first NHL All-Star Game, albeit an unofficial one was held at the Gardens in 1934.
